Hello! My journey to becoming a doula began with the birth of my firstborn 6 years ago. The birth I had planned in my mind was not to be, and I gave birth via a planned cesarean without ever experiencing labor. As a first time mom, this experience led me to seek out a different path for my future pregnancies. With help from both ICAN of Omaha and having doulas by my side, I was able to have two VBACs for my next births. The support I received from my doulas was incalculable and such an important part of why I’m a doula today.

My birth doula training was through DONA International, and I am pursuing certification through their organization. My goal for my clients is for them to feel educated, empowered, and supported during their journey, however the journey unfolds. My role as a doula does not replace the father or partner, but rather supports both the laboring person and their support person.

My postpartum doula training was through CAPPA, and I am pursuing certification through their organization. My goal for my clients is the same as for my birth clients, to be educated, empowered, and supported. I help everyone adjust to their new normal in the fourth trimester.

I am an Evidence Based Birth® Instructor and teach workshops and seminars to birth professionals and expectant families in my community. I firmly believe in the mission of Evidence Based Birth® and think that maternity care will only improve with everyone’s help.

Currently, I co-lead the ICAN of Omaha chapter (International Cesarean Awareness Network) and am passionate about VBAC access for all mothers who want one. This is a role I have held for over 5 years. It is an organization I am proud to be part of and influenced my decision to become a doula.
